Aquilegia vulgaris var. stellata Blue BarlowTall, upright perennial with fern-like grey/green leaves and purple pompon-like fully double flowers. Looks very striking when planted amongst grasses or along with silver foliage flowers.
Also known as Granny Bonnets or Columbines, this stunning Aquilegia was actually bred for cut flower production. These flowers have multiple purple petals that are up facing and flared, creating a double-flowered look. It self-seeds freely though rarely does it become problematic. The purple flowers look stunning with a backdrop of plants with silvery foliage.
