Opalka Tomato
Latin Name:
Solanum lycopersicum OpalkaRed fruit reach up to six inches long and are elongated, tapering to blunt or sometimes pointed tips. They are meaty with few seeds, and unlike most common paste tomatoes, ‘Opalka’ actually has a good flavor making sauces and pastes even better.
Introduced into the 1991 Seed Savers Exchange Yearbook by Carolyn Male. It was given to her by co-worker Carl Swidorski, who said the seed originated in Poland circa 1900.
