Orange Peach Tomato
Latin Name:
Solanum lycopersicum Orange PeachThis imitation peach is nutritious and has splendid sweet flavor! The fruit is perfectly peachy in color, with even a lightly fuzzy skin to match! The original peach tomato is an old French variety called Yellow Peach. It was used to make a marmalade that was a convincing substitute for the real thing! The Orange Peach, which we find even more peachy was a chance cross found growing in the tomato patch of Pennsylvania farmer and heirloom expert James Weaver. The fruit ranges in size from golf ball to tennis ball, with peach color, and fuzzy skin!
Orange peach tomato is an orange version of the ever popular and unusual heirloom garden peach variety. The orange coloring makes it look a bit more like an apricot!. The taste is great, it has the very special garden peach taste with some added fruity zing. Believed to be a cross of Mini Orange and Yellow Peach, which is an old French variety that was once used to make a very passable “marmalade.”
